The problem

What gets in the way today.

A departure board is only useful if you can see it, read it and find the platform it names. International travellers, passengers under time pressure and anyone anxious, disabled or elderly are the least able to ask, and the tannoy is lost in the noise.

When platforms change, printed signs cannot say “platform six, changed from four”.

The solution

How Omnie Vox changes it.

Vox Posts at station entrances, forecourts, bus interchanges and taxi ranks answer outdoors, mains-powered and always on. Vox Stands in ticket halls, information points and arrivals areas answer indoors, branded to the operator. AI Workflows in VOX NET pull live departures, delays and platform and gate changes so every answer matches the board right now.

Travellers ask in their own language and hear the platform, the gate and the time in the same one. Operators see the questions cluster in real time and staff the concourse accordingly.

Where else Omnie Vox works.

VOX POS

A post on the forecourt, a stand in the ticket hall, live answers at both.

A station wayfinding post from Omnie Vox is ready to install where the traveller first needs help: the forecourt, the taxi rank, the bus interchange. Inside, a Vox Stand in the ticket hall or arrivals area answers the same questions without a member of staff. Both give live platform, gate and timetable answers in over 80 languages through AI Workflows in Vox Net.

For station upgrades and new interchanges, the products arrive finished and branded to the operator. Voice-first and screen-free for visually impaired and elderly travellers, calm and step-by-step for anxious passengers in a loud concourse.

In practice

An interchange upgrade adds a new forecourt and ticket hall. Two Vox Posts are specified for the forecourt and taxi rank and a Vox Stand for the ticket hall. On the first disrupted morning the forecourt post tells a commuter “platform six, changed from four, on time”, answers the same in Arabic, and the ticket-hall stand walks a traveller with sight loss to the assistance point in three short steps.

Compliance

Support for the standards and duties that shape accessible spaces.

Spoken, multilingual signage is a practical, documentable way to meet accessibility obligations, with Vox Net recording every interaction as evidence.

Legislation

Equality Act 2010

Requires service providers to make reasonable adjustments, in advance, so disabled people are not substantially disadvantaged. Voice-first signage is a documentable adjustment for visually impaired, dyslexic, neurodivergent and non-English-speaking visitors.

Standard

BS 8300:2018

The British Standard for accessible built environments asks for wayfinding information in more than one format, including audible. Spoken signage complements the tactile, Braille and high-contrast signs the standard already recommends.

Public sector

Public Sector Equality Duty

Section 149 of the Equality Act requires the NHS, universities, councils and transport authorities to actively advance equality and evidence it. Vox Net analytics give equality impact assessments and annual reports a measurable intervention to cite.

NHS

Accessible Information Standard

Mandatory for NHS and adult social care providers in England (DCB 1605), and monitored by the CQC. Requires information in formats people can understand, including audible and other-language formats. Omnie Vox meets this at scale, with an audit trail.

Building Regulations

Approved Document M

Part M of the Building Regulations requires reasonable provision for everyone to access and use a building, citing BS 8300 as its technical reference. Specifying Omnie Vox at design stage puts audible wayfinding in the inclusive-design package before sign-off.

Web

WCAG 2.2 AA & accessibility regulations

Vox App and the Vox Net control panel are keyboard operable, screen-reader friendly and high contrast, meeting the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018 and ready for the European Accessibility Act.
